You may or may not be aware of the damning headlines which recently befell a (formerly) popular pub in the North East. To remind you of the devastating effect of such a press disclosure, I include a copy below;

Hygiene shock at popular pub rated 'very poor' by inspectors A POPULAR family pub had some of the worst hygiene standards ever seen by environmental health inspectors, the Mail can reveal. The xxxx pub was given a rating of "very poor" following the visit by EHO inspectors. It scored just five per cent after environmental health inspectors checked the kitchen and food preparation areas. The council is now considering legal action against the pub, popular with visitors to the nearby Retail Park, cinema and bowling alley. The owners of the xxxx pub, say they have taken 'immediate action' FOLLOWING the inspection.

Prior to this shattering disclosure, the pub in question was extremely popular with a very high turnover of food sales alone. Since publication, however, this has fallen dramatically.
